Maker Faire Detroit 2011

(download)

This year was my first year going to maker faire. Had a good time. I knew a lot of people it being local, worked with a few guys from the steam engine setup, and that I know a hand full of groups in the metro Detroit area one of them being OmniCorpDetroit. Looking forward for next year. I am planning on participating in the racing. It looked fun.

Loved going into The Henry Ford Museum. I have not been in there since grade school. Not a lot has changed. They are starting to add food to the mcdonnalds setup. They added a section for my years(the 90) with pokemon and stuff. Which made me feel old. But I was with a bunch of my gen x friends so I started to feel young again as we progressed down the line. I defiantly plan on taking a visit to THFM again soon.

Side note: thinking about going to burning man. This up coming.

Study: 34% of iPhone owners mistakenly think they have 4G

MacNN | The Macintosh News Network
A fresh Retrevo study has revealed that many iPhone and BlackBerry users are confused about the network speeds of their phones. About 34 percent of iPhone owners and 24 percent of BlackBerry owners believe they already have a 4G phone, even though neither fits even the loosest definitions of the technology. Only Android owners could claim 4G, though it's not known how much of the 29 percent saying they have 4G phones own a device or are confused like their peers.

Important Netflix Account Info: Price Change and New Plans

Dear Soon to be Ex-Service Provider,

The listed phone number is not working..
$16 dollars is insaine! The average persons will not pay this much for this service.
Overall in my past I have been dissatisfied with my customer service with Netflix. Though your service seems to work good most of the time and when it does I blame it on my ISP, but after this move Netflix, I don't know if we can still be friends. The problem here is if a user wants access to your whole collection your have increased the price by $6.00 dollars. It is common for me to hold on to one of your DVDs for a few months, but when I want to rent a new release I give it back. Now if you offered your whole collection on streaming then I would have no reason to use the DVD service. But on your 'Instant Streaming' service its hit and miss if I can rent the movie I desire. (I.E. Hackers 1995) One day its there the next it is not and then a few months later its back.

Now when I read line 15 (We realize you have many choices for home entertainment, and we thank you for your business.) this makes me think you are looking to push people away. Is your network load to heavy that you need to tame it, from either people going all DVD or terminating their account. Or is it that your looking to push people away from DVDs.

Basically... WHY?!?!

Dear Patrick,

We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.

Your current $9.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $7.99 a month

Your price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.

These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

You can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the Plan Change page in Your Account.

We realize you have many choices for home entertainment, and we thank you for your business. As always, if you have questions, please feel free to call us at 1-888-357-1516.
